The Life of your tattoo is dependent upon the care it receives within the first few days. You should keep the tattoo covered for at LEAST one hour. At this time remove the bandage, if the bandage sticks to the skin, wet the area with cool water and gently remove the bandage. Once the tattoo is exposed, wash thoroughly with unscented antibacterial soap and water (Use your hands, not a washcloth and DO NOT SCRUB!) Be sure to remove all surface blood and any remaining soap.
*
DO NOT RE-BANDAGE YOUR TATTOO!
* DO NOT APPLY VASELINE OR ANY PETROLEUM JELLY!
* DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!
At this point pat lightly to dry. Then, with clean hands apply a light coat of DYELESS, UNSCENTED hand lotion (Curel or Lubriderm) three times a day for three to four days. Your tattoo may develop a layer of scab, let this fall off naturally.
Over the healing time, wash your tattoo gently at least once a day with unscented antibacterial soap and water. A clean tattoo is a happy tattoo!
*
Do not pick at your tattoo!
* Do not expose it to direct sunlight during the first two weeks of
healing!
* Do not swim, soak in a pool, sauna, or bathtub during the first week
of healing!
After the skin has fallen off there will be a period of adjustment for the skin. It is advisable to use dyeless, unscented hand lotion.
After your tattoo is completely healed, you still need to care for it if you want the color to last! If you’re going to be out in the sun for an extended period of time, use a maximum SPF sunblock EVERY TIME– UV rays are a tattoo’s worst enemy once healed.
